Remote Learning for Grades 6 - 12 ONLY January 31, 2022 - February 4, 2022

Fairview Families,

This weekend we have had a significant increase in educators who cannot work due to the isolation and quarantine requirements for school district personnel. We are experiencing our greatest staffing shortage this school year with OVER 1/3 of our personnel required to not work this week. Our team makes every attempt possible to keep our kids in school for in-person instruction when it is safe to do so, however this weekend many plans have been developed and revised frequently as additional call ins were received by administration. We cannot safely operate as a school district with 1/3 of our personnel out without making an adjustment to in-person instruction.

Tomorrow, January 31, 2022 through Friday, February 4, 2022, will be Temporary Remote Instruction Days for Middle School and High School students (grades 6-12) ONLY with SPECIFIC DAYS THIS WEEK LISTED BELOW. Fairview Elementary School will have in-person instruction this week. We are hoping this decision allows our Elementary School to maintain in-person classes all week. In addition, our student attendance at Fairview Elementary School was minimally impacted by the virus last week.

FHS students will have Temporary Remote Instruction on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. FHS students WILL attend school IN-PERSON on Tuesday and Thursday.

FMS students will have Temporary Remote Instruction Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

FMS students WILL attend school IN-PERSON on Wednesday and Friday

FMS/FHS students will not have to attend Google Meets every day and for every class but will need to access their Google Classroom starting tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM to review assignments. Tomorrow will be asynchronous for FMS/FHS students, and Tuesday thru Friday will include both asynchronous and synchronous learning on the days students will be in remote instruction. Please be patient with us as these high numbers of isolation and quarantine of school personnel have developed over the weekend and FMS/FHS staff will not meet as an entire staff until early tomorrow morning to discuss details. You will receive follow-up communication from FMS/FHS and your child’s teachers.

Follow-up communication from FMS/FHS tomorrow will include the requirement that students must access their Google classrooms each day, complete their assignments on that day, and submit their work on that day in order to be counted present for attendance. Students who do not access, complete, and submit their work will be counted absent for the day. This attendance change is specifically required as a result of SB 25. Students should contact their teacher if they need support or assistance in completing their assignments.

We understand this situation is challenging for our students and families. Our district is not alone in having to make the switch to temporary remote instruction and will continue to plan to only use this option when necessary. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Thank you!
